AMS-3

AMS-3

Triple 5’s Acoustic Monitoring Systems (AMS) are used for early tube leak detection. The AMS “listens” for leaks with sensors mounted on the boiler using sounding rod technology that does not invade the boiler. The system establishes a baseline signal for normal boiler operation and factors out sootblower noise. Auxiliary inputs from the plant provide additional information to aid in data analysis. An increase in the baseline signal is an indication of a tube leak. Spectrums display the frequency distribution of the energy in the boiler, which helps to confirm a tube leak. The AMS monitors your boiler 24 hours a day, seven days a week, providing continuous information for operational and maintenance decisions.

The AMS detects:

  • Boiler Leaks
    • Water wall
    • Reheat
    • Superheat
    • Economizer
    • Penthouse
    • Dead Air Spaces
    • Headers
  • Feedwater Heater leaks and Defects
  • Sootblower effectiveness
  • Stuck Sootblowers
  • Leaking Poppet Valves
  • Slag/Pluggage
  • Damaging Backpass Vibration
  • Aspirating and cooling air leaks
  • SCR horn operation
